Stupidity!

(A Note For Easter, 2015)

Stupid is, as stupid does!

Stupid is, as stupid does! says Forrest Gump 1 . But today, the human race just keeps doing stupid things; almost the very same stupid things it has always done.

The question is why? It's not as though what we are dealing with is beyond our control; in fact, none of it is beyond our control. We created all the governments and all the countries; we created all the economies, both local and global; we even created all the religious clubs that are now battling in religious wars, and conflicting dogmas. Even the so-called inevitabilities, like poverty, austerity and human misery are all the result of our own actions. These stupid dos, as Forrest would say, originate with us, and continue because of us! So why can't we make them all disappear?

Stupidity is the only answer. The stupidity of seeing God as only ours because the group and its prejudices get in the way. The stupidity of making the economy a slave of wealth and leaving out all the others that make it work. The stupidity of government failing its own people, because of "leaders", "parties", "power" and "political ideologies", instead of seeing itself as its people's servants. Even the stupidity of the people, at large, who still cling to separate Nations and countries, instead of viewing the world as one big Nation, with one government intent on giving that Nation, the best it can for all the people of the world.

Yet the very same things that have bogged this world down for the last 3000 years continue and, not only continue, but, in many ways, get ever worse.

Why can't things change because there are too many billionaires; because the people with power would not have that power; because the interpreters of God would not create their own Gods that favor them; because the poor, the disenfranchised and the great unwashed would not be the meal ticket they have always been to those who profit off them, both spiritually and financially. We all of us created this; and we just let it continue. We created all the divisions, and the barriers those divisions create.

What we created, we can change.
It's that simple!

Yet nothing really changes Stupid is, as stupid does! And, we seem to be addicted to STUPID!
